2,328 Crimes Reported by AAPD June 30-Dec. 31, 2014

OVER THE PREVIOUS six months, there were 2,328 crimes reported by the AAPD. In 2013, there were a total of 6,440 crimes reported by the AAPD to the Michigan State Police. In 2012, there were 6,836 crimes reported by the AAPD to the Michigan State Police.

In 2013, the AAPD’s crime clearance rate (arrest made/case closed) was 35 percent. In 2012, the AAPD’s crime clearance rate was 30 percent.

In 2013, 4,508 crimes remained uncleared. In 2012, 4,785 crimes remained uncleared for a two year total of 9,293 crimes which remain uncleared, according to data submitted by the AAPD to the Michigan State Police.

Over the past six months, the following types and numbers of crimes have been reported by the AAPD:

Assault: 240

Burglary: 150

Disturbing the Peace: 304

Drug/Alcohol Violations: 103

DUI: 83

Fraud: 356

Murder: 0

Motor Vehicle Theft: 30

Robberies: 19

Sex crimes: 32

Theft/larceny: 502

Vandalism: 282

Vehicle break-in: 221

Weapons: 0

During 2013, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department reported 6,391 crimes and a 33 percent clearance rate, according to Michigan State Police records. In 2013, 4,821 crimes reported by the Sheriff’s office remained uncleared.
