A2 Indy FOIA Fund Donation

The Ann Arbor Independent regularly submits Freedom of Information Act requests to state, county and local government entities to obtain public records in support of investigative reporting. The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is often described as the law that keeps citizens “in the know” about their government.  FOIA plays an important role in keeping government transparent and accountable, and since 2013 The Ann Arbor Independent has used FOIA to expose a wide range of government misconduct and waste, along with threats to the public’s health and safety.

The newspaper and our lawyer have sent out dozens of letters/emails to recalcitrant governmental officials in support of the newspaper’s requests for the release of public records.

The A2Indy FOIA Fund supports this work.
