“Overall, research suggests that between 40 and 60 percent of newspaper news stories have some type of error, be it factual or something of a more subjective nature,” says Craig Silverman. Silverman is the author of Regret the Error: How Media Mistakes Pollute the Press and Imperil Free Speech. Silverman added, “But here’s the other part of the equation: Research found that only two percent of factual errors were corrected.”

7/2/24: Correction: Superior Twp. attorney Fred Lucas is not handing the Golden EEOC case. The Township’s insurance company is handling the response to Irma Golden’s EEOC complaint and has assigned attorney Dave Landry. It was Landry who wrote the Township’s response to Golden’s complaint.
6/2/2024: Corrected to reflect the correct total donation limit imposed on local candidates who run for Sheriff.
5/17/24: Updated and Corrected. Added City Clerk Jackie Beaudry comments about the number of registered voters in Ann Arbor and the number of signatures required to be collected.
3/7/24: Corrected. AADL Board President Molly Kleinman resigned from the Ann Arbor Transportation Commission on February 28, 2024.
11/30/23: Corrected. Ypsilanti Council member Jennifer Symanns represents Ward 2 not Ward 1.
3/23/23: Corrected and updated: YCS School Board member Dr. Celeste Hawkins was inadvertently identified as the YCS spokesman who contacted The Ann Arbor Independent on March 14 by phone and spoke on the record.
