Alleged Shooter in Ypsilanti Twp. Double Homicide Arrested by U.S. Marshals

SUSPECT OF QUADRUPLE SHOOTING APPREHENDED!

Just before 5:00pm today, the U.S. Marshal’s Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team was able to arrest the 19-year-old Ypsilanti man believed to be responsible for the quadruple shooting which took the life [sic] of 16-year-old Dallas Williams and 20-year-old Tyrese Burks.

Additionally, we can report that the siblings of Dallas Williams who were severely injured in the shooting have survived.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of those in our community who had the courage to stand up for what is right and assist us in this investigation. To our detectives who have worked tirelessly to reach this point, thank you. And to our partners at the U.S. Marshalls our community thanks [sic] you for your service.

Nineteen-year-old Tamar Louis Lorenzo Young was arrested by U.S. Marshal’s Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team just before 5 p.m. on June 29, according to information made public by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Dept.

Young was wanted in connection with a shooting in Ypsilanti Twp. this week that left two people dead and two others injured. Three of the victims are brothers. Sixteen-year-old Dallas Williams and 20-year-old Tyrese Burks died as a result of their injuries. Also injured were Cater Williams, 14 and Travis Williams, 19.

Young “has a history of weapons offenses and is believed to be armed and dangerous,” officials said in a statement. A search of the District and Circuit Court records in both Wayne and Washtenaw Counties turned up no cases in which Tamar Louis Lorenzo Young was a defendant.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of George Place, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, a fight sparked the violence.

Within hours of announcing tips were sought to find Young on Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Service said he had been taken into custody. No other details were released.
