Thoughts on a Vote for Harris or Trump

by Robert Marple, CPA

  • The new tariffs proposed by former President Trump would likely increase our inflation and result in retaliatory tariffs.
  • A pandemic response by the Fed and action taken by the Trump Administration increased M2 money supply 24.8% (highest 1 year increase in history), adding to our inflation.
  • Trump, in a January 6th interview praised the mob (many violent and lawbreaking with some breaching our Capitol) telling them, “We love you. You are very special.”
  • Our former President often does not know the difference between fact and fiction. Many respected fact checkers have documented this.
  • Building a wall will not stop the flow of illegal drugs by drone. Passenger drones will follow. (The majority of illegal drugs entering the US now enter through legal ports.)
  • Multiple studies have shown immigrants, both documented and undocumented, commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans.
  • The Lancet Commission concluded 40% of US Covid deaths could have been avoided had the US managed the pandemic similarly to its wealthy peers.
  • Tax cuts including Trump proposed cuts on Social Security are reckless given our large federal debt (See “Trump’s Fusillade of Falsehoods on Debt and Taxes”).
  • Unemployment rates at yearend (2021, 2022, and 2023) under the Biden Administration were below 4%, historically low.
  • The scope and scale of the legal proceedings against former President Trump is unprecedented.

Those who disagree with Trump often receive scathing diatribes in return for their opinion. Can you imagine anyone, let alone a former US president, mocking the brutal assault of any American just because he disagrees with their spouse, politically?

Former President Trump has failed to accept the results of the 2020 election despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud. (His first-term average approval rating of 41% is the lowest in Gallop poll history.) His refusal to accept valid election results is a threat to our democracy.

It is time for a new, younger president with mutual respect. One who can relate to all Americans and foster bipartisan cooperation. Please consider a vote for Harris.
