63 Crimes Reported by AAPD Jan 8-Jan. 15, 2015, Including Multiple Home Invasions

DURING THE SECOND week of January, there were six burglaries reported by the AAPD, including three forced entry home invasions. There were three instances of identity theft reported, and one sexual assault. There were six DUIs reported and four drug crimes, all of which were the possession of marijuana.

On Jan. 1, 2015, the AAPD reported only one DUI, at the corner of Cedar Bend and Broadway, reported at 3:34 a.m.

During 2013, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department reported 6,391 crimes and a 33 percent clearance rate, according to Michigan State Police records. In 2013, 4,821 crimes reported by the Sheriff’s office remained uncleared.

In 2013, the AAPD’s crime clearance rate (arrest made/case closed) was 35 percent. In 2012, the AAPD’s crime clearance rate was 30 percent. In 2013, 4,508 crimes remained uncleared. In 2012, 4,785 crimes remained uncleared for a two year total of 9,293 crimes which remain uncleared.  Since Jan 1, 2015, the following types and numbers of crimes have been reported by the AAPD:

Disturbing the Peace: 7

Drug/Alcohol Violations: 8

DUI: 10

Fraud: 22

Murder: 0

Motor Vehicle Theft: 1

Robberies: 2

Sex crimes: 3

Theft/larceny: 22

Vandalism: 12

Vehicle break-in: 6

Weapons: 0
