Former City Council Member Wendy Woods To Host Free, Public Forum, “Running for Public Office 101”

CURIOUS ABOUT RUNNING for the School Board or another public office next year? Wish you knew more about the ins and outs of throwing your hat in the ring?

This year ten candidates are set to run for Ann Arbor City Council. However, in Washtenaw County elected officials have, for the past decade, frequently run unopposed. The Ann Arbor Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area (LVW-AAA) will host a free, public forum, “Running for Public Office 101,” on Thursday evening, May 8, 7-8:30 p.m., at the Ann Arbor District Library (343 S. Fifth Ave. at William St.).

The event features panelists who successfully ran for public office and served on the local school board, county commission, city council and county clerk’s office, the discussion will be moderated by former Ann Arbor City Council member Wendy Woods.

Wendy Woods served on the Parks Advisory Commission, Energy Commission and Liquor Control Commission. She also served on the Solid Waste Commission which she chaired, and the Environmental Commission. She is previous member of the Board of Director’s for the Girl Scout Council of Huron Valley, the Ecology Center, and the Emerson School.
